There are many things that we do every day that end up being wrong, or the harder way to do things. By learning some simple tricks, you can do things the right way instead of doing them wrong. we here at The Blind Side have come up with 5 THINGS YOU KEEP DOING WRONG EVERY DAY.
5. Peel a hard-boiled egg the easy way
If you’ve ever had trouble peeling hard-boiled eggs to the point that they look like they’ve been through a meat grinder, then you’re doing it all wrong. If you want to remove the shell from a boiled egg with minimum hassle, try putting a teaspoon of baking soda in the water before boiling.
Baking soda can penetrate the shell membrane and loosen it. To remove a boiled egg from its shell with minimal hassle, put a teaspoon of baking soda in the water before boiling.
4. Cooling drinks down faster
Have you ever wanted to cool down a drink quickly? Did you know you can do it faster than just putting it in ice water? Well here is how you do this. Fill a large bowl with water and ice at a ratio of 1 to 1, then add to tablespoons of salt. Place your bottle or your cans in the water so that it is completely covered by the ice and the water. In only 2 minutes it will be 8-10 degrees cooler.
How does it work? Ready for some science? As the salt dissolves into the water, it will actually disassociate into its constituent, which is sodium and chloride ions. Water molecules are polar, and each molecule has a partially positive and a partially negative charged end. The negative end attracts the positive sodium ion, and the positive end attracts the negative end.
This process is called ‘solvation’ which requires energy that is obtained by reducing the thermal energy of the water. This reduces the temperature of the salt ice-water mix. The ice will not only melt, but actually get colder!
3. Boiling food
Everyone has made amess of boiling something like pasta or rice, and then when the food expands, foam is created in the water and overflows making a big mess of your nice clean stove. However, there is a way to stop this from happening and creating a big spill. If you lay a wooden spoon over the top of a boiling pot, it keeps the water from bubbling over the side of the pot.
Why does it work? The spoon will actually pop the bubbles and keep the water from boiling over. Remember though that this could warp a wooden spoon, so do it with a utensil you don’t want as much. Alternatively, you could use something metal, but you’d have to remove it with an oven mitt because it will become very hot.
2. Cleaning a blender
Ever tried to clean a blender after a long night of mixing margaritas? You probably know how tough it can be to clean those things with all the parts they have inside. Well, if you’ve been cleaning it the conventional way, you’ve been doing it wrong. Try this instead.
If you want to clean your blender, you shouldn’t try scrubbing it at all. Instead, use a spot of dish soap, fill it with water, and simply blend at high speed until it’s clean. If you have stubborn stains, then just add a teaspoon of baking soda to the water.
1. Charge your smartphone quicker
Everyone has probably been doing this one wrong, and this tip will surely help save you some charging time if you’re in a hurry. If you’re phone is dead, are you simply putting it on the charger? If so, you’re doing this wrong. Did you know that you could speed up the charging process by 50%? Speeding up your battery-charging time is as simple as outing your phone into ‘Airplane’ mode.
Many people don’t know this, but the wireless adapter in your smartphone is what eats up most of your batteries charge. By turning off the wireless mode, or turning on ‘Airplane Mode’ you disable your wireless adapter, which puts a big drain on your battery even if it’s being charged.
